The elevations in this Digital\nElevation Model (DEM) represent the topographic bare-earth surface. The 3DEP data\nholdings serve as the elevation layer of The National Map, and provide foundational\nelevation information for earth science studies and mapping applications in the United\nStates. Scientists and resource managers use 3DEP data for hydrologic modeling, resource\nmonitoring, mapping and visualization, and many other applications. The seamless 2\narc-second DEM layers are derived from diverse source data that are processed to a\ncommon coordinate system and unit of vertical measure. These data are distributed in\ngeographic coordinates in units of decimal degrees, and in conformance with the North\nAmerican Datum of 1983 (NAD 83). All elevation values are in meters and, over the\ncontinental United States, are referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988\n(NAVD88). The seamless 2 arc-second DEM layer provides coverage of the Alaska only. The seamless 2 arc-second DEM is available as pre-staged current and historical products tiled in GeoTIFF format. The seamless 2 arc-second DEM layer is updated continually as new data become available in the current folder. Previously created 1 degree blocks are retained in the historical folder with an appended date suffix (YYYYMMDD) when they were produced. Other 3DEP\nproducts are nationally seamless DEMs in resolutions of \u2153 and 1 -arc-second. These\nseamless DEMs were referred to as the National Elevation Dataset (NED) from about 2000\nthrough 2015 at which time they became the seamless DEM layers under the 3DEP program\nand the NED name and system were retired. Other 3DEP products include one-meter DEMs\nproduced exclusively from high resolution light detection and ranging (lidar) source\ndata and five-meter DEMs in Alaska as well as various source datasets including the\nlidar point cloud and interferometric synthetic aperture radar (Ifsar) digital surface\nmodels and intensity images. All 3DEP products are public domain.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.4bd95204-7a29-4bd4-acce-00551ecaf47a.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://www.usgs.gov/3d-elevation-program", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_4bd95204-7a29-4bd4-acce-00551ecaf47a", "keyword": ["DEM", "United States", "NED", "2 arc-second DEM", "IFSAR", "USGS:4bd95204-7a29-4bd4-acce-00551ecaf47a", "GIS", "Grid", "Hydro-Flattened", "Terrain Elevation", "Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar", "Topographic Surface", "Geodata", "Raster", "U.S. Geological Survey", "3DEP", "Geogrpahic Information System", "elevation", "USGS", "1-degree DEM", "Topography", "US", "Digital Mapping", "Elevation", "LIDAR", "High Resolution", "LIght Detection And Ranging", "Mapping", "Digital Terrain Model", "Digital Elevation Model", "Cartography", "National Elevation Dataset", "Bare Earth"], "modified": "2025-02-14T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-180.000000, 51.000278, -127.000000, 72.000000", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Alaska 2 Arc-second Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) - USGS National Map 3DEP Downloadable Data Collection"}
