In this update, the PAD-US data were updated from version 1.2 to version 2.1. In the previous process, the ATtILA toolbox was used to calculate the percentage of protected areas for each HUC. For this update, the Tabulate Intersection tool was used in ArcGIS Pro, a tool that was created since the last time this update was conducted. To get an accurate measure of the percentage of protected areas, each category of protected areas (such as GAP 1, 2, and 3) was Dissolved as a singlepart feature in order to prevent double counting areas where multiple GAP status areas overlapped.
