The HFM represents the geometry and \nextent of hydrogeologic units and major structures in an approximately 45,000 square-kilometer \nregion of southern Nevada and California. The HFM was constructed from digital elevation models, \ngeologic maps, borehole information, geologic and hydrogeologic cross sections, and other 3D \nmodels to represent the geometry of the hydrogeologic units. Cross sections from five sources \nwere used as input to the HFM: (1) 28 sections of the DVRFS region, (2) six sections of southern \nNevada and eastern California, (3) 22 sections from a hydrogeologic framework model of the Nevada \nTest Site region, (4) four sections of the Yucca Mountain area, and (5) three sections of the southern \npart of Yucca Mountain and the northern part of Amargosa Desert (Faunt and others, 2004, Chapter E, \npages 176-179). The HFM represents principal aquifers and confining units and is an integral component \nof the DVRFS transient ground-water flow model. The DVRFS HFM and transient ground-water flow \nmodels are the most recent in a number of regional-scale models developed by the U.S. Geological \nSurvey (USGS) for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to support investigations at the Nevada Test \nSite (NTS) and at Yucca Mountain, Nevada (see \"Larger Work Citation\", Chapter A, page 8).", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P97ORVZ1", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.dfd1c681-2090-4cb3-8d1d-bf9eda273c1e.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_dfd1c681-2090-4cb3-8d1d-bf9eda273c1e", "keyword": ["Saline Valley", "cross section", "Tecopa", "Spring Mountains", "California Valley", "Nevada", "Nye County", "Oasis Valley", "USGS:dfd1c681-2090-4cb3-8d1d-bf9eda273c1e", "Garden Valley", "Amargosa Desert", "Pahrump Valley", "Mono County", "hydrogeologic framework model", "ground water", "Sheep Range", "Coal Valley", "Clayton Valley", "Railroad Valley", "hydrogeology", "Chicago Valley", "Resting Spring", "Nevada Test Site", "California", "Sarcobatus Flat", "Franklin Lake", "transient ground-water model", "Esmeralda County", "Kern County", "hydrogeologic cross section", "Stewart Valley", "Ash Meadows", "Lincoln County", "Inyo County", "Mineral County", "hydrology", "Stone Cabin Valley", "southern Nevada", "Shoshone", "Death Valley", "Penoyer Valley", "Eureka Valley", "Death Valley regional ground-water flow system", "Yucca Mountain", "flow model", "San Bernadino County", "Owlshead Mountains", "Clark County", "Panamint Range", "Mesquite Valley", "Pahranagat Range", "Silurian Valley", "China Ranch", "Las Vegas Valley", "geologic cross section", "Franklin Well"], "modified": "2020-11-17T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-118.006374, 35.486264, -114.514715, 38.119023", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Traces of geologic and hydrogeologic cross sections used to develop the hydrogeologic framework model of the Death Valley regional ground-water flow system, Nevada and California"}
