(Prior to that date, hit tickets data is a less reliable measure of utility damages.)\n\nPlease note, a hit ticket does not necessarily mean damage occurred or implicate the parties listed on the hit ticket as having caused the damage. For example, an excavator may report damage they discovered, but did not cause; an entity may incorrectly report the utility that was damaged or who caused the damage; the same damage may be reported by more than one entity. 811 Chicago investigates all reported damages to determine if there was a violation of MCC \u00a7 10-21. During the course of its investigation, 811 Chicago will confirm the information on the hit ticket. If 811 Chicago discovers inaccurate information, it may not update the hit ticket. The data related to 811 Chicago\u2019s investigation is not exposed in this data set. Importantly, 811 Chicago does not determine which entity is liable for the damage, and the \u201chit by\u201d field does not indicate that the individual or entity caused the damage or violated MCC  \u00a7 10-21.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "downloadURL": "https://data.cityofchicago.org/api/views/nphj-5zur/rows.csv?accessType=DOWNLOAD", "mediaType": "text/csv"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "describedBy": "https://data.cityofchicago.org/api/views/nphj-5zur/columns.rdf", "describedByType": "application/rdf+xml", "downloadURL": "https://data.cityofchicago.org/api/views/nphj-5zur/rows.rdf?accessType=DOWNLOAD", "mediaType": "application/rdf+xml"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "describedBy": "https://data.cityofchicago.org/api/views/nphj-5zur/columns.json", "describedByType": "application/json", "downloadURL": "https://data.cityofchicago.org/api/views/nphj-5zur/rows.json?accessType=DOWNLOAD", "mediaType": "application/json"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "describedBy": "https://data.cityofchicago.org/api/views/nphj-5zur/columns.xml", "describedByType": "application/xml", "downloadURL": "https://data.cityofchicago.org/api/views/nphj-5zur/rows.xml?accessType=DOWNLOAD", "mediaType": "application/xml"}], "identifier": "https://data.cityofchicago.org/api/views/nphj-5zur", "issued": "2022-09-15", "keyword": ["transportation", "hit ticket", "utilities", "dig ticket", "excavation", "811"], "landingPage": "https://data.cityofchicago.org/d/nphj-5zur", "modified": "2026-04-11", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "data.cityofchicago.org"}, "theme": ["Transportation"], "title": "811 Chicago Utility Hit Tickets"}
