{"accessLevel": "public", "bureauCode": ["010:12"], "contactPoint": {"@type": "vcard:Contact", "fn": "Ernest A Crider", "hasEmail": "mailto:ecrider@usgs.gov"}, "description": "This database portrays the surface and shallow subsurface geology of the greater Charleston, S.C. region east of 80\u00b030\u2032 west and south of 33\u00b015\u2032 north. The region covers the entirety of Charleston County and portions of Berkeley, Colleton, Dorchester, and Georgetown Counties. Units locally exposed at the surface range in age from middle Eocene to Holocene, but most of the area is covered by Quaternary interglacial deposits. These are, from oldest to youngest, the Okefenokee, Waccamaw(?), Penholoway, Ladson, Ten Mile Hill, and Wando Formations and the Silver Bluff beds. Two cross sections (not included in the database), one running southeast from Harleyville to the coastline on James Island and the other running along the coastal barrier islands from the town of Edisto Beach to the northeast end of Bull Island at the southwest edge of Bull Bay, portray the complex geometry of the Paleogene and Neogene marine units that directly lie beneath the Quaternary units. These older units include the Santee Limestone, Tupelo Bay, Parkers Ferry, Ashley, Chandler Bridge, Edisto, Parachucla, and Marks Head Formations, the Goose Creek Limestone, and the Raysor Formation. The estimated locations of deeply buried active basement faults are shown which are responsible for ongoing modern seismicity in the Charleston, S.C. area.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P9HB0RFE", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.620d314ed34e6c7e83ba9a2d.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_620d314ed34e6c7e83ba9a2d", "keyword": ["Charleston County", "Lake Moultrie", "stratigraphy", "Oligocene", "Wando Formation", "Dawho River", "Harleyville", "Eocene", "Summerville", "Ashley River fault", "Hollywood", "Parachucla Formation", "Francis Marion National Forest", "Fort Moultrie", "Lincolnville", "Shulerville", "Edisto Beach", "time periods", "geologic history", "Marks Head Formation", "Summerville fault", "Captain Sams Inlet", "alluvial terrace", "Whiteville", "Ridgeville", "Intracoastal Waterway", "USGS:620d314ed34e6c7e83ba9a2d", "Cenozoic", "Stono Inlet", "Harleyville Formation", "sedimentation", "environment", "geography", "South Edisto River", "geologic contacts", "Stono River", "beach sand", "Cordesville", "cartography", "surficial geologic units", "Ashley Formation", "Coosaw River", "mud flat", "Cooper River", "marine geology", "Colleton County", "Wadmalaw", "silt", "West Branch Cooper River", "human impacts", "Fort Wagner", "structural geology", "North Santee", "Wando", "Parkers Ferry Formation", "study areas", "sedimentology", "Edisto River", "Neogene", "earth sciences", "Folly River", "Charleston", "Edisto Island", "Phanerozoic", "Huger", "Bethera", "carbonate rock", "Dorchester", "Kiawah River", "economic geology", "Silver Bluff beds", "flood plain", "colluvium", "Atlantic Ocean", "lithostratigraphy", "alluvium", "gravel deposits", "Open-File Report", "Ladson", "Lake Francis", "Jedburg", "Johns Island", "unconsolidated material", "South Santee River", "structure contours", "Dorchester County", "Pliocene", "Moncks Corner", "Saint Helena Sound", "geospatial datasets", "Pinopolis", "North Edisto River", "natural rock formations", "maps and atlases", "Adam Run fault", "East Branch Cooper River", "Givhans", "Seabrook Island", "Esterville Minim Creek Canal", "limestone", "sedimentary rocks", "Charleston fault", "Pleistocene", "Clark Sound", "unconsolidated deposits", "Charleston Harbor", "Bull Harbor", "geologic maps", "Holocene", "terrace", "Tupelo Bay Formation Pregnall Member", "Goose Creek Reservoir", "College Park", "geologic processes", "earthquakes", "faults", "clay deposits", "Raysor Formation", "Huttos Lake", "Ravenel", "Paleogene", "Ladson Formation", "peat", "Toogoodoo Creek", "Miocene", "Meggett", "Awendaw", "Island of Palms", "gravel", "lake or marine sediment", "climatologyMeteorologyAtmosphere", "Chandler Bridge Formation", "Four Hole Swamp", "unconformities", "Tupelo Bay Formation Cross Member", "Daniel Island beds (informal)", "Fort Sumter", "Berkeley County", "sand deposits", "North Charleston", "bedrock geologic units", "Ashley River", "nonmetallic mineral resources", "Penholoway Formation", "sand", "Copahee Sound", "clay or mud", "rocks and deposits", "biostratigraphy", "Quaternary", "geomorphology", "fault zones", "Back River", "Tertiary", "Goose Creek Limestone", "Tibwin", "Hamlin Sound", "Lake Merkel", "Tail Race Canal", "Cottageville", "North Santee River", "Ashepoo River", "Santee Limestone", "Wadmalaw River", "Edisto Formation", "Folly Beach", "Jacksonboro", "Ten Mile Hill Formation", "Waccamaw(?)
