Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks are appealing for astronomy data mining from virtual\r\nobservatories because of the large volume of the data, compute-intensive tasks, potentially large\r\nnumber of users, and distributed nature of the data analysis process. This paper offers a brief\r\noverview of PADMINI\u2014a Peer-to-Peer Astronomy Data MINIng system. It also presents a case\r\nstudy on PADMINI for distributed outlier detection using astronomy data. PADMINI is a webbased\r\nsystem powered by Google Sky and distributed data mining algorithms that run on a\r\ncollection of computing nodes. This paper offers a case study of the PADMINI evaluating the\r\narchitecture and the performance of the overall system. Detailed experimental results are presented\r\nin order to document the utility and scalability of the system.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "PADMINI: A PEER-TO-PEER DISTRIBUTED ASTRONOMY DATA MINING SYSTEM AND A CASE STUDY", "downloadURL": "https://c3.nasa.gov/dashlink/static/media/publication/Paper_19_.pdf", "format": "PDF", "mediaType": "application/pdf", "title": "Paper 19 .pdf"}], "identifier": "DASHLINK_241", "issued": "2010-10-13", "keyword": ["ames", "dashlink", "nasa"], "landingPage": "https://c3.nasa.gov/dashlink/resources/241/", "modified": "2025-03-31", "programCode": ["026:029"], "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "Dashlink"}, "title": "PADMINI: A PEER-TO-PEER DISTRIBUTED ASTRONOMY DATA MINING SYSTEM AND A CASE STUDY"}
