The Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management launched the Shoreline Change Project in 1989 to identify erosion-prone areas of the coast. In 2001, a 1994 shoreline was added to calculate both long- and short-term shoreline change rates at 40-meter intervals along ocean-facing sections of the Massachusetts coast.\nThe Coastal and Marine Geology Program of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management, has compiled reliable historical shoreline data along open-facing sections of the Massachusetts coast under the Massachusetts Shoreline Change Mapping and Analysis Project 2013 Update. Two oceanfront shorelines for Massachusetts (approximately 1,800 km) were (1) delineated using 2008/09 color aerial orthoimagery, and (2) extracted from topographic LIDAR datasets (2007) obtained from NOAA's Ocean Service, Coastal Services Center. The new shorelines were integrated with existing Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management and USGS historical shoreline data in order to compute long- and short-term rates using the latest version of the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS).", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.87c8ddc3-5f39-4c53-8501-8e7a178dd2b9.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2012/1183/", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_87c8ddc3-5f39-4c53-8501-8e7a178dd2b9", "keyword": ["United States", "Shoreline", "Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center", "Digital Shoreline Analysis System", "geospatial datasets", "Transect", "SCE", "Historic Shoreline", "Coastal and Marine Geology Program", "U.S. Geological Survey", "WHCMSC", "Atlantic Coast", "Massachusetts", "Chatham", "USGS", "coastal processes", "CMGP", "NSM", "Erosion", "Net Shoreline Movement", "LRR", "New England", "DSAS", "Linear Regression Rate", "Accretion", "Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management", "Shoreline Change Rate", "Esri polyline shapefile", "oceans", "Shoreline Change Envelope", "geoscientificInformation", "Cape Cod", "long-term", "Baseline", "USGS:87c8ddc3-5f39-4c53-8501-8e7a178dd2b9"], "modified": "2021-11-16T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-70.656146, 41.517963, -69.983238, 41.674343", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Digital Shoreline Analysis System version 4.3 transects and long-term linear regression shoreline change statistics for all data available within the South Cape Cod coastal region from Stage Harbor Light in Chatham to Nobska Point in Woods Hole (SouthCapeCod_transects_rates_LTw.shp)"}
