These models are combined to account for ground shaking from earthquakes on known faults as well as earthquakes on un-modeled faults.\nSeismicity rates are estimated by counting historical earthquakes in a grid with a cell dimension of 0.1 degrees in latitude and longitude.  These gridded earthquake rates are smoothed using a 50 kilometer fixed length smoothing kernel.  Separate rate models were developed for the craton and active tectonic regions for earthquake depths between 0 and 50 km.  Gridded rates for earthquakes with depths greater than 50 km were done separately.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.59822ea8e4b0e2f5d463bb0f.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/F7WM1BK1", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_59822ea8e4b0e2f5d463bb0f", "keyword": ["Suriname", "Seismic", "Brazil", "Guyana", "French Guiana", "Chile", "South America", "Colombia", "Argentina", "USGS:59822ea8e4b0e2f5d463bb0f", "Hazard", "Ecuador", "Uruguay", "Panama", "Peru", "Bolivia", "Trinidad and Tobago", "Paraguay", "Venezuela", "Risk", "Earthquake"], "modified": "2020-08-18T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-85.0, -70.0, -20.0, 15.0", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Gridded earthquake rates (a-grids)"}
