Upper Klamath River Basin Open Water Evaporation Modeling Data from the Klamath River Basin Revised Natural Flow Study

Metadata Updated: January 16, 2026

The Daily Lake Evaporation Model (DLEM) was used to develop evaporation rates for 13 lakes and reservoirs in the Klamath River Basin that have changed between predevelopment and current conditions. All model files can be found in the model zip package. Please see the associated README file for directions to run the models and explanations of model output. To see the report associated with this dataset, please visit https://data.usbr.gov/catalog/8500/item/133810. The model files and associated report are part of a larger effort, the Klamath River Basin Revised Natural Flow Study. This study combines seven different hydrologic modeling tools to develop natural streamflow estimates for the Klamath River Basin from WY 1981 through WY 2020. The overarching purpose of the study is to apply current science, methods, and tools to develop natural streamflow estimates, while addressing known limitations of previous estimate and incorporating recommendations provided by the National Research Council.
