A. SUMMARY This dataset contains upcoming and current permitted street and lane closures occurring as a result of the Shared Spaces program, certain special events, and some construction work. This dataset only includes street closures permitted by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA). It doesn’t include street closures managed by other City departments such as Public Works or the Police Department. More details regarding these street closures can be found here.

B. HOW THE DATASET IS CREATED The data is exported from the Street Closures Salesforce database maintained by the SFMTA ISCOTT unit and the construction closure Access database maintained by SFMTA STP unit. It is converted to the standard Work Zone Data Exchange (WZDx) format per the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT). More information is available from the USDOT's WZDx site and the official WZDx Specification on GitHub.

C. UPDATE PROCESS This report is issued and posted here daily.

D. HOW TO USE THIS DATASET The WZDx standard allows infrastructure owners and operators make harmonized work zone data available for third party use. The intended audience includes 511 and navigation systems (both for human drivers and automated driving systems).
