County SB 552 Status Dashboard Data and Drought Resilience Plans

Metadata Updated: January 23, 2026

This dataset supports the County SB 552 Progress Dashboard, which is published on DWR’s County Drought Resilience Planning webpage. The dashboard summarizes county-reported information on SB 552 implementation, including the status of drought and water shortage task force formation, drought resilience plan development, and the types of planning assistance counties have received from DWR (financial or direct technical assistance).

This page also links to a DWR-hosted document library containing completed County Drought Resilience Plans. Senate Bill (SB) 552 requires counties to improve drought and water shortage preparedness for state small water systems and domestic wells by establishing a standing Drought and Water Shortage Task Force and developing a County Drought Resilience Plan. These plans describe local drought and water shortage risks and potential interim and long-term solutions for state small water systems and domestic wells and may be stand-alone documents or incorporated into existing county plans.

The dashboard data and linked plans do not indicate compliance with SB 552 and do not constitute review, approval, or endorsement of any planning documents or processes. DWR does not review or approve plans for SB 552 compliance, nor direct or monitor county task force processes.

This dataset and dashboard were developed in response to frequent questions from counties about how SB 552 is being implemented statewide.
