    These data represent submerged aquatic vegetation for Bogue Sound, North Carolina, collected in 1992 by NOAA's Office for Coastal Management as part of the Coastal Change Analysis Program (C-CAP). The submerged aquatic vegetation was mapped according to stringent parameters detailed in the C-CAP protocol, using 1:20,000-scale aerial photography. Photographs were taken at low tide and during times when the growth stage of the submerged aquatic vegetation allowed for clear identification. Care was taken to minimize the effects of turbidity, sun glint, wind, and haze on the photos. The imagery was scanned using a photogrammetric-quality scanner at a pixel resolution of approximately 0.85 meters.

    Signature development occurred in the summer of 2001. The images were orthorectified using ground control points sourced from state digital orthoquads and the National Imagery and Mapping Agency's Digital Terrain Elevation Data. The resulting benthic data is classified according to the System for Classification of Habitats in Estuarine and Marine Environments. The thematic accuracy of these data has not been assessed due to the significant time difference between the 1992 image acquisition and the 2002 interpretation date.
